Today I was writing a tribute to my husband's aunt , who passed away last month .

She was the first person form my husband's family to teach me about cooking .In fact she had asked me to cook one particular dish (which is my husband's favourite) when I had gone to visit her at Chennai.I really got scared because that was my first cooking in front of so many people especially from my husband's side.

She had kept the ingredients ready and asked me to prepare , so that I would like to get a real experience rather than just hearing/writing down recipes. I feel that what she said is true.

I have heard one more statement on the same. If we have learnt a new dish, we should prepare it very frequently until we are sure that we can prepare the same without any assistance(means without the recipe)

This is a very easy dish and mostly suited for children.

Recipe:

Small onion (sambar onion) - 250 gms

Ghee- 4 tbsp

Salt - to taste

Cooked Rice (boiled rice)

Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp

Method :

1. In a large pan, saute onions in ghee over low heat until golden.

2. Add turmeric powder and then rice and stir it.

3. Reduce heat to low and allow to cook until proper mixing of rice and onions are done.
