Vellarikka Manga Chemmeen Curry

My first attempt in making my favourite curry..And I'm happy that it turned out pretty well.Just love this curry!!!
Vellarikka-manga-chemmen curry is a traditional Kerala style curry. It is a delicious dish which can be easily prepared. This curry is a good choice, especially in the summer when mangoes are easily available in market. Mango gives its natural sourness to this curry. Mango with more sourness taste is preferred for this curry. Coconut gives thickness and a tasty flavour to this curry. This curry goes well with boiled rice/plain rice.

Ingredients:
Vellarikka/cucumber 1 small Jackfruit seeds - 7-8 nos Chilly powder -2 tsp Turmeric powder - 1 tsp Raw mango - 1 medium Water - as required
Dried prawns powder - 3 tsp
To grind grated coconut 1 cup shallots 2-3 Water - as required to make it as a paste
Green chillies vertical slit 3
To temper Dry red chillies 2 Curry leaves a sprig/thandu Mustard seeds 3/4 tsp *Coconut oil 1tbsp
Method
In a pressure cooker, add the jackfruit pieces with water just to cover the seeds.Mix ,close the lid and cook on medium flame for upto 1 or2 whistles.Switch off and allow it to rest until pressure releases.
Add the cucumber pieces into this and add the chilly powder and turmeric powder and salt.Then add water to cover the cucumber
Now close the lid and cook on medium flame for upto 1 whistle.
Open the lid once pressure releases and then add mango pieces.
Cook on low flame for 2 mins and then add the dried prawns powder
In the meantime,grind the coconut to a smooth paste.Then add the green chillies and shallots and grind for some time.

Then Add this paste to the cooked cucumber-mango mix..Simmer the flame and cook for 2-3 minutes until its gets well blended.Switch off the flame
In another pan,heat oil and when its hot,splutter mustard seeds.Add in dry red chillies,curry leaves.Pour this over the curry.
Serve warm with steamed rice !!
